Glue Up Process

  • The glue-up process for hardwood and softwood requires careful preparation and clamping for a strong bond. For hardwood and softwood, smooth jointed edges are essential, with even glue application and high-pressure clamps.

  • We glue up some products to achieve the desired widths, as certain materials don’t meet customer requests. Once the boards are glued and sent through the moulder, the seamless finish makes it difficult to identify glue-up boards.

AFRICAN MAHOGANY

A tropical hardwood known for its reddish-brown color and fine grain, often used in furniture and boat building.

ASH

A deciduous hardwood renowned for its strength, flexibility, and versatility. It is commonly used in tool handles and sports equipment due to its ability to bend and withstand stress.

BIRCH

A hardwood derived from birch trees, known for its durability and versatility. It is often used in furniture and flooring. 

BLACK WALNUT

A hardwood known for its dark color and fine grain, often used in high-quality furniture. 

CLEAR ALDER

Light tan to reddish-brown color with a straight and even grain pattern. It lacks knots, making it ideal for projects requiring a smooth finish.

HARD NORTHERN MAPLE

A hardwood known for its light color and fine grain, commonly used in furniture and flooring. 

HICKORY

A hardwood known for its strength and shock resistance, often used in tool handles and smoking meats.

KNOTTY ALDER

Light tan to reddish-brown color with open and closed knots, providing a rustic look. The grain pattern is more irregular compared to Clear Alder.

NORTHERN CHERRY

A hardwood known for its rich red color and fine grain, often used in high-quality furniture and woodwork.

POPLAR

Light tan to reddish-brown color with open and closed knots, providing a rustic look. The grain pattern is more irregular compared to Clear Alder.

QUARTERED WHITE OAK

Known for its distinctive flake or fleck pattern due to the medullary rays. The color ranges from light tan to dark brown with possible pinkish tints.

RED OAK

A hardwood with a distinctive grain pattern, often used in furniture and flooring. It has a light tan color with a reddish tinge.

RIFT CUT WHITE OAK

Rift Cut White Oak is specifically cut to produce a linear grain pattern, making it highly stable and visually appealing for various woodworking applications.

SAPELE

A tropical hardwood known for its interlocking grain, often used in furniture and musical instruments.

SOFT NORTHERN MAPLE

Less dense than Hard Maple, still used in furniture and wood products. It is easier to work with than Hard Maple.

WHITE OAK

A dense hardwood with a white to cream to light brown color, known for its durability and high shock resistance.

Yes, C&H does accept all major credit cards except American Express.

Yes, we do offer next-day pickup on all stock products.

We recommend cypress or cedar because they handle water, but other wood species can be utilized if they are treated properly.
